Blue Door is a private language school located in the southern Spanish city of Cordoba (see video).

The school is a member of ACEIA (the Association of Private Language Schools in Andalusia), and of FECEI (the National Federation of Private Language Schools in Spain).

Cordoba City (Andalucía)

Established in 1999, Blue Door operates from two locations: one in the heart of the city centre and the other in a prestigious local school.

The city centre premises has six classrooms, and teachers have access to many resources, including a well-stocked specialist library, stationery, computers, projectors, whiteboards and realia.

Blue Door classes are small and personal with between 6 and 10 students per group. Students come for two hours a week. A typical timetable usually consists of 10-12 groups with a total of 20-24 contact hours. Levels range from absolute beginners to advanced and we have students of all ages from as young as 3. The vast majority of our students, however, are older children or teenagers. Many of them take external exams. Classes are normally held at our city centre premises or a local school but are occasionally given elsewhere.

Blue Door is a professional organization and expects high standards of teaching and commitment from its teachers. Teachers have a real desire for professional development and, to this end, a comprehensive Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programme, with on-going in-house and external training, is provided. The Head Teacher and Director of Studies are also on hand to provide support and advice throughout the year, as well as observe classes and offer feedback.

Uniquely, the school also covers the costs of one of the following teaching qualifications for all new teachers, whether full-time or part-time:

Trinity College London’s Certificate for Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (Trinity CertTESOL)
(Level 5 on OFQUAL’s Regulated Qualifications Framework)
Trinity College London’s Certificate for Practising Teachers: Teaching YLs and VYLs
(Level 6 on OFQUAL’s Regulated Qualifications Framework)

Salary & Conditions

We offer a competitive package with salary above national pay agreements as well as full national health and social security cover. Contracts are from mid-September to mid-June. A typical contract consists of 20-24 contact (teaching) hours per week, but teachers are also expected to dedicate time to class preparation, exam correction, report-writing and participation in the CPD programme. There are two weeks’ paid holiday at Christmas and a week at Easter, as well as all local and national holidays. The school also covers the costs of either a Level 5 or Level 6 Trinity College London teaching qualification (provided by Spainwise Teacher Training).
